	Melvin J. Robey is a third-generation plant scientists who has always been closely associated with the world of gardening. After a four-year stint in the Navy, he obtained a B.S. degree from Utah State University and a Masters degree from Purdue University; both degrees concentrating on the study of horticultural topics, soils, and botany.
